About this listing

The Helicopter Pilot Licence (PPL H) course at The Helicopter Centre in Mallorca provides the training, knowledge and practical experience required to fly helicopters privately under European aviation standards. The course is suitable for recreational pilots, private helicopter owners or as a first step toward advanced aviation training.

The program is structured around three core components: the Flying Syllabus, Ground School Subjects and the PPL Skills Test. All training takes place at The Helicopter Centre’s base in Mallorca using modern Robinson R22 and Robinson R44 training helicopters. Students are trained by experienced, certified instructors and receive consistent guidance throughout the course.

Flying Syllabus
The practical flying syllabus is designed to develop safe, confident and competent helicopter pilots in real operational conditions. The minimum flight training requirements are:

45 hours total flight time
25 hours of dual instruction with a qualified flight instructor
10 hours of solo flight as Pilot in Command

Training includes basic helicopter handling, hovering, take-offs and landings, circuit procedures, navigation flights and emergency procedures. Students progressively build skill, accuracy and situational awareness throughout the course.

Ground School Subjects
Ground school provides the theoretical foundation required for safe helicopter operations in accordance with European aviation regulations. The training covers all mandatory subjects, including:

Aviation Law
Navigation
Meteorology
Principles of Flight
Flight Planning and Performance
Aircraft General Knowledge
Operational Procedures
Communications
Radio Telephony

These subjects ensure students understand aircraft systems, weather interpretation, navigation planning, radio communication and operational decision-making.

PPL Skills Test
The PPL Skills Test is the final practical assessment of the course and is conducted by an authorised flight examiner. During the test, students must demonstrate safe and competent helicopter operation, including pre-flight preparation, aircraft handling, navigation exercises and simulated emergency procedures. The test is divided into five sections covering the full PPL(H) syllabus. Successful completion leads to the issue of the Helicopter Private Pilot Licence.

Upon completing the required flight training, ground school and skills test, students are awarded the Helicopter Private Pilot Licence PPL(H), allowing them to fly helicopters privately under visual flight rules.
