Barahonda Casa del Capitán Monastrell is a red wine from the Yecla D.O. This is a luscious Monastrell, that entices with its freshness and vitality. It is made from 100% Monastrell grapes and it has been aged for 7 months in French oak barrels.The grapes are grown on soil that is 90% limestone, and 10% sand.The recommended storage temperature for this wine is 14 to 16ºC. Store it horizontally and consume within 7 to 8 years. WINEMAKINGThe Monastrell grapes are selected "a pie franco" for vinification in small open stainless steel tanks for 20 days. The maximum fermentation temperatures are between 20/25ºC. After maceration-fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels.Ageing occurs in French oak barrels for seven months. TASTING NOTESAromas: Casa del Capitán has abundant fruity aromas such as cherries and raspberries. In addition, there are light touches of wood due to its time in barrel.Palate: A notable acidity and a smooth entry. This red wine has a pleasing and silky mouthfeel with rich red fruit flavours and subtle French oak hints.Serving Temperature: This red wine is best enjoyed at 9ºC.
